Only Loners left Alive
Exhibition and Reading Room at Artists Unlimited e.V., Bielefeld (2019) and at Vary Leipzig
In ‚Only Loners left Alive’ Julia Boehme shows her cheerful and diverse ongoing work with the metaphorical figure of the 'Loner', or the 'Comic Character', (' ... a person who avoids or does not actively seek human interaction'). A video shows two of these 'Loners' walking aimlessly through town, being mistrustfully observed by pedestrians. Printworks, such as posters, silkscreen-prints, ceramics and many risography prints from her book 'Mind the Back' are shown. The stencil-like drawings play with the topic of the urge of exercising to avoid back pains. She also installed a book table with self-publications from Riso Club Leipzig and the Book Shop Uganda Maszage and from her own collection.
